Our family has been showing terriers Airedales & Lakelands for over 18 years. We show not just because we love the breeds. We show because we realize there is a need for preservationist breeders. We show because we want to continue to produce & exhibit quality dogs bred to the standard. We show because frankly there will never be enough dogs bred with a purpose to meet the needs of families who do their research.
Anyone can breed and sell a dog but not all breeders of dogs are equal.
We consistently strive to produce dogs of sound temperament, health, & of correct type. We spend nights agonizing over pedigrees & we know each dog behind the dogs we breed. We want more than just a top winning dog or of champion lines in our pedigrees. We select dogs with the past & the future in mind. Whether you get a dog from us or elsewhere be certain your breeder is active, has had a long history of success & participation in events that promote the breed.
How to identify a good breeder.
A good breeder has generally had many years in the breed. They have titled one or more dogs in Conformation, Performance, or Obedience venues. They are generally active club members and have a good reputation within the breed. A good breeder is happy to talk about their dogs & experiences.
Be comfortable asking questions.
We always suggest talking to several breeders to see if you can get a good perspective on what you are seeking for your next companion dog. We also advise potential owners to ask a breeder how their dogs are raised, where they obtained their foundation stock, and what are their priorities for their dogs. A good breeder does not get into this to breed Airedales. Most of us with good intentions began showing before we ever think about breeding a litter. Ask them which came first showing dogs or breeding them?
We just want a pet.
Most people don't just want a car. They want a car that suits their needs. Sure most cars can get you from point A to point B. Does that car accommodate a growing family, long distances, little maintenance? Our warranty is that we will always be there for the life of your dog. What you want is predictability through careful breeding. This insures all the dogs in our breeding program are CHIC certified and we know the health history of dogs in our pedigree. We want you to know that the dog you get was bred to be a great companion and a versatile one.
This is a thoughtful and thinking breed. Our dogs are bred with purpose.
We encourage potential owners to participate in AKC events such as Conformation, Rally, Obedience, Agility, Canine Good Citizen, and Instinct Tests. While not every dog is a showdog we believe every dog we produce should be a lifestyle investment.
